What Are Crowns & Bridges?
Crowns and bridges are both restorative dental treatments that can help restore your smile's normal function and appearance.
They can fill the space left by missing teeth, help you maintain your natural facial shape, and return your ability to speak and chew properly.
By repairing structural problems such as damaged or missing teeth using a dental crown or bridge, our dentists can change your smile's appearance – and help preserve your oral health.
Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are hollow, artificial teeth that are placed over a decayed or damaged tooth to restore its original shape, size, and colour. They help change the appearance and strength of a broken tooth that may otherwise be lost.
Crowns are strong and can be made from various materials, including porcelain and metal. They look and function like natural teeth, and, if cared for properly, can last 10 years or more.
Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a natural-looking restoration that 'bridges' a gap of missing teeth in your mouth. Consisting of one or more artificial teeth, dentists affix the bridge to the teeth on either side of the gap to fill the space.
A dental bridge helps to prevent your other teeth from shifting positions to fill the space. More serious dental issues, including gum disease, could occur without a dental crown.
