Dental Technology in Edmonton
At Mill Woods Town Centre Dental Clinic, our dental technology helps us provide our patients with personalized dental care. Our tools, such as digital X-rays and intraoral scanners, help us provide comprehensive care for you and your family.
Low Radiation Exposure
The dental technology we use helps us diagnose dental issues with low radiation exposure. You should receive less radiation from four intraoral X-rays than from one day of normal background radiation that we receive in everyday life.
Cone Beam Cat Scan
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a special type of X-ray machine that generates 3D images of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve paths and bone in the craniofacial region in a single scan. Images obtained with CBCT allow for more precise treatment planning.
Intraoral Scanners
Intraoral scanners create digital dental impressions, an alternative to traditional dental impressions which can be messy and time-consuming. Your dentist uses an optical scanning wand to take a digital image of your teeth within minutes. This device allows your dentist to capture data to create digital replicas of the hard and soft tissues of your mouth.
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-rays use digital sensors instead of traditional photographic X-ray film. They produce highly detailed computer images of the teeth and gums, as well as other oral structures and conditions, allowing your dentist to examine parts of the mouth that are not visible to the naked eye.
